Off to a Great Start!

We have been very busy in the art room this year. I can not believe the first nine weeks went by so quickly. We are preparing for a Coffee Shop Poetry reading by fourth grade students. We have a very long list of props and costumes to create in the art room. We are also performing Cajun Night Before Christmas with the third grade in December. Lots of exciting things going on at FHAE! Pictures are coming of all the happenings in the art room!!!

Going crazy for SEUSS!!!

This year the 5th grade class is putting on the musical Seussical. I have an art crew who is creating the backdrop, props, costumes, make-up, program cover, and everything else we will need for this production to happen!!! This group has done an incredible job brainstorming, sharing ideas and working together! Here are a few pictures of everyone hard at work!

We are painting "Seuss" inspired trees for the backdrop with lots of "Who" people lining the hallways. We are hanging tissue paper flowers, umbrellas, and paper lanterns from the ceiling...it should be very colorful!!! :) Oh, and how could I forget our life size paper mache Cat in the Hat! Coach has been a HUGE help for the Art Crew...we could not make it without her!!!

Baton Rouge General Art Contest Winners!!!

Tia, Mrs. Haddox and Starr

This is my second year to enter student artwork in the Baton Rouge General Art Contest. Students had a choice to draw a picture of fairies, helping neighbors, or eating heathy! We had twelve winners from Forest Heights. They were honored at a celebration at the hospital where they each received a medal and poster of their artwork. The following students received awards: Starr Amar, JaNiece Campbell, Hunter Collins, De'Jaun Ferguson, Celiscia Green, Tia Hatch, Meghan McMahon, D'Niyra Montague, Chaniya Morgan, Lia Neff, Johnny Orozco and Jada Riley. I am so proud of their hard work. Here are a few pics from the celebration at the hospital!
